Bam’s introverted and enjoys spending time working on her graffiti projects around town, smoking marijuana, and listing to music. She almost always has headphone in and on music helps her drown out the world which causes her anxiety.
To introduce Bam and to set the stage for this series, I have created a playlist. I collected a handful of songs that I feel best represents Bam and the story over all. Without further ado, I give you Bam’s Playlist.
It’s Not the End of the World
The story open with pandemonium in the media. The pandemonium reached a point that Bam became annoyed and turned her phone off. One simple email and the world began to blame each other and fall into mass chaos. With this scene in mind and I chose Katy Perry’s Not the end of the world (judge me if you must, but I like her.) Bam wakes up to what feels like the world is ending, but Bam is a fighter and is quick to take action to make sure it wasn’t the end of the world.
Bam grew up on the streets which has led to her being rough around the edges and struggling with depression and anxiety. When she confronts Illea she struggles with nausea and hot flash and other symptoms of anxiety. I wanted to emphasize this internal battle struggle that she has with fear of leadership roles and failure. The song Overwhelmed by Ryan Mack to me accurately describes the feeling of being overwhelmed, especially with task of making major decisions.
In contrast to the song Overwhelmed, Venom by Eminem talks about finding the strength to overcome when the world has counted you out. I talks about rising up. Striking your opponents, before they see you coming. I like this song for Bam as a whole, but also I like it for the high she was on after overcoming Illea. It shows her going from anxious and hesitant to confident and taking on the problem like a boss babe.
Honestly, I love this song as a theme song for this series as a whole. If this was a Tv series the chorus of this song would be the theme song. To me I see this song playing as they blast of to the next destination in the Delta region. She has overcome a hurdle in her anxiety. Stepping out of her comfort zone to save the world. We see her conflicted between staying in the safety of anonymity, even if it was just for a few moment, or stepping out of her comfort zone. Taking on more of a leadership role. So I see her blasting off to this catchy beat, feeling just a little freer. There is a sense of hope and possibility hanging in the air. A chance for redemption.
Bam has quickly captured my heart. She has become a character that I love. I hope to share her and her story with you so you can fall in love with her as well. I will continue to bring you more on Bam so stay tune.
